CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: RAPID EVIDENCE-BASED ASSESSMENT OF THE COMMON AGRICULTURAL POLICY
Dear LE Readers,
In 2017 the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) will be critically revisited in preparation for the next CAP reform. As a part of this process, the European Commission invites the public to provide comments via an online consultation which is open until the 2nd of May 2017.
Independently and complementary to this consultation, BirdLife, the European Environmental Bureau and NABU commissioned a project to conduct a „rapid evidence assessment“ for the impacts of the CAP on the economy, society and the environment. The project aims to provide indications of the available knowledge, and help develop evidence-based recommendations for improving the CAP both in the short term and for the CAP post-2020.
In order to develop a comprehensive knowledge-base, your expertise is needed!
If you have published on the ecological, economic or social impacts of the CAP, or if you are aware of papers looking into this topic, we would be grateful if you could contribute the findings via the following online questionnaire:
Because of the tight schedule of the EC consultation, we would appreciate if you could reply to our questionnaire by the 10th of April.
Please, also do inform other colleagues or organizations, working on the social, economic or environmental impacts of the CAP,whom you believe could contribute to building a comprehensive knowledge-base for robust recommendations.
Your contribution will acknowledged (if so desired) and integrated into our evolving database, which will be freely available for the public and the scientific community to comment on, expand, and use later on. In addition, responses that are related to the effects of 'greening measures' on biodiversity and ecosystem services will be shared with the EU project EKLIPSE, where a call for knowledge was recently published to gain a general overview on existing knowledge on this matter and to identify further needs for knowledge synthesis (see link here).
Thank you very much for your support!
