The Department of Applied Landscape Ecology puts ecology into a spatial context. Our approaches are therefore interdisciplinary and based on a fundamental understanding of physical, biological, chemical and anthropogenic processes.
Departmental research activies focus on the identification and quantification of environmental processes at different spatial scales using different modelling methodologies, and the development of strategies for a sustainable use of landforms including natural landscapes as well as anthropogenic impacted and rural areas.
